From the moment you board the dome car, you know you're riding in a very special railcar. Cocktails, champagne, linen tablecloths, delectable brunch and dinner entrees, an observation platform, a separate gift shop/railcar in both-- try getting all that
on a bus, or even on any other cruise line's rail car!
Ultra Dome Railcars
The patented 180-degree-domed windows are the largest ever made for a passenger train. The cars offer more headroom and a smaller step up to your seat for your safety and convenience than other railcars. All tables in the lower level dining salon offer window views, plus made-to-order Alaskan specialties for brunch or dinner.
Alaska Touches
Fine artwork, fresh flowers, and accents of wood, brass and copper are just a few of the touches that make your rail experience like "cruising" on land. The friendly staff in the dining room, cocktail lounge and gift shop plus the ADA-approved wheelchair accessibility complete the experience.
Observation Platform
You can stretch your legs as well as your imagination on the the open-air observation platform, patterned after presidential trains. On your 356-mile journey, you'll see lush farmlands, homesteaders' cabins, bush airstrips, and possibly moose grazing in willow thickets. Weather permitting, several vantage points offer unobstructed views of majestic Mt. McKinley as well.
Hosts
Well versed in the natural history and lore of Alaska, your host in the observation lounge will not only point out fascinating sights along the way and relate their history, he or she will lead you in sing-a-longs, share Alaskan anecdotes and make sure your trip is enjoyable from beginning to end.
Dining Salon
The railcars are the only ones to feature meals prepared fresh on board including hot and cold Alaskan specialties served on fine china in stylish window-view dining salons. Depending on your meal, enjoy everything from reindeer sausage to fresh seafood and fruits of the forest pie.
