The best way to see Alaska is on the Railroad
Our award-winning service, comfortable seating, and knowledgeable tour guides are part of the fabulous rail experience. The scenery is world-class. Whether you arrive by air, land or sea, the Alaska Railroad offers customized itineraries to provide you with the ideal adventure package
Tour Guides
Our tour guides play a major role in making the Alaska Railroad a preferred means of travel. They'll make sure you don't miss out on any historical or scenic points of interest. As a state-owned railroad, we're proud to employ local student tour guides on our passenger trains when school's out.
Gift Shop
Visit our gift shop at the Anchorage Depot or onboard the Coastal Classic and Denali Star.
Fabulous Food, Breathtaking Views
Casual dining with a view no restaurant can match. Join us for a bite to eat, and enjoy the show. Enjoy breathtaking views from large picture windows and comfortable, forward facing reclining seats in our coach class cars.
Health Concerns/Assistance
To ensure the preservation of the fragile environment through which we travel and for the comfort of all guests, smoking is not permitted onboard the Alaska Railroad trains. Pre-boarding and detraining assistance is provided at all stations. Please advise us in advance if you require boarding assistance.
Baggage:
Alaska Railroad passengers are allowed two pieces of checked baggage and one carry-on. Two extra pieces of baggage (for a total of four) may be checked for an additional fee. No single piece may weigh over 50 lbs. A special handling fee of $20 per bag applies to oversized bags, bicycles, and other recreational equipment. Please carry medications with you as you will not have access to your luggage once you have checked your bags.
