SEAS#04 Mt. St. Helens / 11 Hours
View the mountain famous for its May 18, 1980 eruption and more recent activity! Explore three visitor's centers and experience hands-on displays and films, including clips of the explosion and aftermath, before being treated to a dramatic view of the crater. We'll head out of busy Seattle in the early morning and make our way south to Mt. St. Helens. The mountain is located approximately 90 miles from Seattle, but the drive to the highest visitor center takes over three hours. We'll stop along the way to learn more about the mountain as well as take a photo or two. The 1980 eruption of Mt. St. Helens triggered the largest landslide in recorded history, covering parts of the North Fork of the Toutle River in up to 600 feet of debris! As the 25th anniversary of the day the mountain blew, 2005 is the perfect year to visit the Mt. St. Helens National Monument. The day the mountain blew is forever etched in the memory of most Washingtonians - and you'll know why after experiencing this tour. Friday & Saturday Departures
