Comfort class (Economy)
In Comfort class, you'll be comfortably ensconced in a seat with a headrest. You can stretch out your legs, read as much as you want or enjoy a snooze. On either side: a huge, luminous window. Don't hesitate to ask a member of our friendly staff for a snack or refreshment.
The Transcontinental coach car allows you to travel long distances in complete comfort. Chair backs recline, enabling you to stretch your legs, lean your head back and enjoy the scenery as the train makes its way to destination. The following are available to you while travelling in Comfort class (Economy):Take a stroll to the Skyline car. You'll find a friendly coffee shop and a panoramic dome offering you superb 360-degree views: the deep forests of northern Ontario, the vast prairies or the majestic Rocky Mountains.
The Canadian also offers you fine dining. Delicious meals prepared by a chef will increase your travelling pleasure. In the off-peak season, you even have access to a dining car! Your meals in Comfort class come in an remarkable number of variations. At all times, you can access the Skyline car's convenient take-out counter, as well as its friendly café during peak season. In off-peak season, you can elect to savour the culinary wonders created by our chef in the dining car, usually reserved for the use of Silver & Blue class travellers!
There is a meal for every appetite. Looking for a quick snack? Stop at our café. Want something more substantial? Settle at a table and, between two scrumptious morsels, marvel at the vast spaces of the prairies or the chiselled ramparts of the Rockies. Or, simply sip a coffee or tea as you let yourself be rocked by the soothing motion of the train.
Baggage
We recommend that you restrict yourself to one or two items of carry-on baggage. Make use of the baggage car and check all the baggage you won't need during the trip. You can check a maximum of six articles, three free of charge.
Alcoholic drinks service
The times at which alcohol can be served are governed by the laws of the province in which the train is travelling. Under these laws, you cannot consume alcohol that was not purchased on board.
Tobacco
Since November 1, 2004, the Canadian offers an entirely smoke-free experience. Our non-smoking policy extends to all cars, vestibules, washrooms, lounges and private spaces. However, those who wish to smoke will be able to do so during regular station stops at Capreol, Hornepayne, Sioux Lookout, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Edmonton, Jasper and Kamloops.
